Midway between the 2nd and 3rd music segments I've recently introduced a new segment called "Tech Talke With Hawke" and/or World News and the Digital Frontier. I discuss and explain various technologies, digital rights, risks, and other issues, both as a monologue and in dialogue with those posting questions in the Chatroom or via Instant Messaging or postings on my forums. I am considering moving this to the Thursday show that is usually mostly news and commentary.

The third part of the show (my favorite part of the show) I play music from around the world including Celtic, Gaelic, Japanese, Native American, Indian, Inuit, Hawaiian, African, East Asian, Spain, South American, Turkish, Russian, Middle-eastern, and many other styles.

The final part of the show I play classical, new age, meditative, opera, trance, and ambient music as well as the "World Music" including Native American, Japanese, lots of Celtic, Gaelic, Inuit, Indian, Middle-eastern, Turkish, South American, African, and much more!

I am regrettably giving notice to everyone who listens to my show on www.nekkidradio.com
that this upcoming Saturday, November 18th, 2006 (Sunday November 19th UTC),
will be my last show with NR.

I will continue my broadcasts with KYRS at www.kyrs.org and through my website at
www.thesyntheticzenshow.com and on KYRS FM 95.3, 92.3, & soon 89.9 FM in the greater
Spokane & Cheney WA & Cour d'Alene, ID areas.

I am extremely grateful and indebted to NR for giving me the opportunities to
learn and experience broadcasting over the Internet, and the experience has
been and will continue to be invaluable to me.

I have been disappointed in recent (many) months that it seems my show format
doesn't really map to NR's listener base. I've had shows with no one
listening by myself and one other (presumably Manny).

Whereas my broadcasts with the "real" radio station has been quite the
opposite.

Whereas NR I receive nearly no feedback from listeners, KYRS I get wonderful
feedback with every show.

Also the recent split, and chaos thereafter, of NR, and the additional
requests for more schedule changes, when my few NR listeners' number
complaint has been changing schedules, has made it difficult to build up any
sort of "fan base" on NR alas. But I think it really comes primarily down to
the targeted audience, the NR listeners seem to expect a few styles of more
mainstream, or on the other end of the spectrum, off the wall, programming,
and apparently not the selection I provide in my shows.

In having to decide which station I would drop and which I would stay with to
try to free up some of my overloaded schedule, I'm afraid that I will have to
give up my slot with NR.

Again I am very grateful and appreciative for honor and the opportunity of
broadcasting over 2.5 years on NR, and it is with heavy heart that I provide
this notice.

I wish everyone in the NR family all the best, and hope for many years of
continued growth for NR.

I have worked in many industries including: automotive, professional photography and fashion, theater, medical, educational/instructional, security, technology, information security, mining, construction, ranching, food services, and many others. I started working my first paying job at nine years old at a mining camp, as a general laborer, helping with surveying, chopping wood, washing dishes, and more. Over the years I had manual labor jobs including lumber jacking, mining, surface blasting, road construction, heavy machinery operator, heavy construction laborer, surveyor, delivery driver, convention & events organizer, labor crew foreman, ranch hand, horse trainee/trainer, and many others until I was about 17/18. Then I worked as an automotive technician speciliazing in automotive computer, electrical, emissions and performance systems. I have also over the years worked as a certified nurses aide, emergency room prep tech, emergency medical technician trainee, security guard (armed and unarmed), body guard, habilitation therapist, professional commercial photographer, lab technician, server (waiter), store clerk, cashier, apartments and office buildings maintenance worker (and later manager), the list goes on and on...

During this whole time I continue working in the technology industry since 1981 starting out programming inventory and accounting software when i was 11. I've worked building over 10,000 computers with my own hands, and surpervised the building of many others by others, I've installed hundreds if not thousands of networks, administrated desktops, servers, mid-range servers, and mainframes, working in just about every facet of the computer and information technology industries possible. I have had my some of my published and other works re-republished and adapted by some of the largest technology and government organizations in the US and internationally.

In later years, I was certified through a program sponsored by the NSA and FBI for Information Security. I have worked as a “grunt” and as top level executive and business owner, working my way from the bottom to the top in many industries and companies, so I have a broad range of experience in relating with other's challenges and injustices. Since retiring, I'm now working toward becoming a Recreational & Music therapist to work with children who have learning, emotional, disabilities and challenges.

Below is more the music and "zen" part"...

I have been playing music since 1979, starting with piano and keyboard, in the mid-80s i started playing (mostly Blues) harmonica and chromatic harmonica, then in 1989 picking up guitar and bass then teaching in the 90's. I started playing Native American wood flutes in 1999, and started learning the African Djembe drum in 2005. I started composing electronic (computer-generated) music in 1992.

I have been broadcasting an online show 2-3 times per week for an Internet Radio station called NEKKID Radio (www.nekkidradio.com) since February 2004. This has helped me in slowly fleshing out what kind of show I wanted to do, and help towards developing some broadcasting skills.

I have been involved in theater and video as an actor and musician on and off most of my life, and that has helped with developing a stronger stage and on-air “presence”.

I have a natural keen interest in trying to understand all aspects of a topic.

I have studied martial arts (Kung fu (4 styles) and Aikido) since 1974, and this has without a doubt been a key part of my interest and studying of East Asian history, culture, language, spiritualism, and philosophy.

Just last week I received my pre-ordered OpenBSD 4.0, in addition to a t-shirt and a music cd. OpenBSD is freely available open source software, but by buying these items it helps support their continuing development efforts in fighting the good fight.

Typically I will spend the first 15 minutes or so of the show covering a specific technology topic that impacts your civil rights, privacy, and/or security, etc.

Topics will range widely from how to protect yourself on wireles networks,  the issues caused by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) & MPAA (Motion Picture Association America), spyware, open source versus closed source, security issues, dealing with spammers, hackers, etc.

Listeners will be able to post questions by phone, email, IRC, & IM.
